So let’s get onto the photos. The images you see here make up our Associateship panel for the Royal Photographic Society. The panel features some of our favourite photos, each of which capture a different element of a wedding day, from the preparation right through to the party.
We love this photo of a mother helping her daughter put on her wedding dress. It seems so simple, but it’s an image that captures the bond between the two women – their shared experiences, from the day the mother brought her baby home from the hospital to the morning of her wedding. It’s a moment shared by millions of women across the world, and that’s what makes it so special.
Some moments can only be captured thanks to a silent camera, giving us the ability to blend into the background and record those quiet moments of emotion and stillness. The photo of the flower girl gazing up at the bride is a real favourite. She was completely awestruck, and sat cross-legged beside the bride for the whole ceremony. It’s this unseen magic of weddings that we can’t get enough of.
Then there are those images that capture pure joy! Laughing groomsmen, fathers grinning with pride, and the glowing couple stealing a kiss – this is love in its rawest form, and we feel so privileged to be a part of it.
