Wedding at the Lion Quays in Oswestry: Jued and Sofia
It’s always a great pleasure to be asked to be a wedding photographer at the Lion Quays near Oswestry. We’ve had many wonderful wedding there like Sara and Richard and Beth and Gaz just to name two, but it was the first time that I had the honour of capturing a traditional Tibetan Buddhist wedding blessing as well! The day started at the family home where the bride, helped by her bridesmaid carefully prepared the wedding flowers.
One of my favourite memories from the day is seeing Sofia and her dad walk to the church. To say he had a determined walk would be an understatement! He was clearly very excited!
After a traditional christian church wedding, we went to the Lion Quays for the wedding breakfast which was held outside under the sun! (Hard to imagine now, I know!). Much lovely eating and chatting done, the party went back to the family home where I got to taste 2 lovely Tibetan treats: sweet rice and butter tea! A traditional buddhist blessing was given and that was another great treat for me as it was the first time I’d witnessed one. There was chanting, putting scarves around the newlywed’s necks.. all sorts of lovely traditions and wonderfully colourful dresses!
